------------------------------------------------It’s been 2 years since Shelby the Bloodforged defeated the Rising Demon in the Desert of Doom, and she is getting a little worried about her parents! Her dad, Finn the Human, is now physically 26, but her mom is still physically 19-20, and will be forever! Because of a spell they were forced to use on the island east of Ooo, Marceline won’t be able to change Finn into a vampire. Shelby is very worried that her dad is going to grow old and die and leave her mom devastated in the process. As close as those two are, she knows her mom will never be the same after Finn dies, even with all of eternity to recover from it! So what can she do?
Shelby, who is physically about 14, asks her mom if she can head out. Marceline says, “Where are you going?” Shelby replies, “I am going to go visit with PB and see if I can talk her into going out on a date with Darkelon.” Marceline grins and says, “I bet you are up to something, but as long as you keep your word, go ahead.” Shelby smiles and waves goodbye and then calls her Bloodforged armor, formed from the family heirloom demon blood sword, that makes her the greatest hero in Ooo, and flies to the Candy Kingdom. When she gets there, she draws the armor back into her skin and then she goes into the castle, and hears Manfried say, “Announcing the arrival of Shelby Lynn Abadeer the Bloodforged!” A few seconds later, Princess Bubblegum enters the foray and greets Shelby. PB says, “What brings you here Shelby?” She replies, “Princess, I am really worried about my mom and dad. You know my mom is immortal, but my dad isn’t. It seems like there is no way he is going to avoid dying, and I really don’t want to see my mom devastated by his passing.” PB looks at her and sighs. “I wish I had an answer for that Shelby. Immortality always seems to have a price attached to it. Look at the immortals we know of in Ooo. Your mom is a vampire, which means she has to avoid sunlight and has to constantly be looking for red to eat so she can behave normally in society. The Ice King is being kept alive by his crown, but he has to stay in relatively close vicinity to Ice Queen to stay sane. While that’s not a problem now, what if something happens to forcibly separate them? That’s got to be a fear they both live with! And then there is the Lich. He had to sacrifice anything within him that was remotely human to stay the way he is. In my experiments, I’ve found a few ways to make people live much longer lives, but the cost is always too great to use them.” PB looks at the ground, and Shelby sees a tear form in her eye. “I’d really like to help you, because I want to live longer too, to take care of my…” Then Princess Bubblegum gets a faraway look in her eyes, and then looks to the sky. “…people…” Then she has an idea! “Shelby, can you go get your dad? And tell your mom to get here as soon as she can! I have an idea that might work!” Shelby gets an excited look on her face, and calls forth her Bloodforged armor, and flies back to the tree house! She flies in and says, “Mom! Get to the castle as soon as you can!” Then she grabs her dad and flies out the window straight towards the Candy Kingdom! She races as fast as she can, and Finn says, “Uh, Shelby? Where are we going, and why are we going there so fast?” Shelby looks at her dad, with her grin hidden by the Bloodforged mask, and says, “PB has some incredible news! I can’t wait for you to talk to her!” Finn thinks back to the last time PB had incredible news, when she announced that Marceline was pregnant with Shelby, and gets braced for anything as they land in the castle square!PB walks up to Finn and says, “Finn, do you remember Stormo?” Finn thinks a minute and then remembers! He is all that is keeping one of the most fearsome evils in Ooo at bay! “Goliad! Is there a problem with Stormo?” PB says, “No, Finn, but I think I may have an idea to fix your mortality problem with Marceline.” Finn looks at Shelby, who is still encased in the Bloodforged armor, probably so she can fly off if she is in trouble! “Marceline and I have talked about this, and we were going to plead with the Cosmic Owl to fix me so I can become a vampire, if I can ever get a chance to see him again!” PB says, “I don’t think that is possible. Your DNA now has a foolproof resistance to the vampyri virus. Any changes that would eliminate that would be life threatening.” Finn sighs, and looks at the ground. “Honestly, I’m a little worried about that myself. In a just a few years I’ll be 30, and according to a couple of books I’ve read, I’m going to start losing my edge. But Marcie will always have the edge!” He looks up at the sky, and then looks at Princess Bubblegum. “So what is your idea?” She replies, “You know that both Goliad and Stormo are immortal. They are so evenly matched that they will be in psychic combat long after we are all gone. But then I thought, isn’t Shelby capable of taking out Goliad?” Finn looks at her, and then looks at Shelby. Finn is never surprised by what his daughter is capable of now that she is the Bloodforged! “If she can beat Goliad, what’s next?” PB says, “If we can defeat Goliad, I may be able to combine your DNA with Stormo’s, making you immortal!” Finn and Shelby both gasp! Shelby says, “How can you do that?” PB says, “I used some of Finn’s heroic DNA to form Stormo. I knew that was the only way I could make a beast noble enough to hold Goliad at bay for eternity.”
About this time, Marceline arrives under the cover of her parasol. She looks at the serious faces amongst the group, and says, “OK, what’s up? Why do you look like you are all at a science seminar?” Finn walks up to Marceline and puts his arm around her shoulders; he walks and she floats away from the group. PB and Shelby can hear Finn’s voice, but can’t make out his words. Suddenly, Marceline screams, “WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS?” Marceline flies over to the Princess and says, “Is this dangerous? Glob, I really want Finn to live a lot longer than he is going to, but I’d rather have him around for 60 years safe than take a high risk to maybe live a while longer!” The Princess replies, “If this works, Finn will be immortal.” Marceline gets tears streaming down her cheeks and says, “All you can offer me is an IF? IF this works?” Marceline grabs PB around the waist and flies her up to a porch very high on the castle. Shelby starts to follow, and Finn says, “Shelby, no. Stay here. Your mom wants to talk to Princess Bubblegum alone.” She lands back on the ground and absorbs the Bloodforged armor into her skin, and then pouts. “What do you think dad? Do you want to try it?” Finn says, “If it gives me the chance to live to see you get to old age, and I can stay with your mom for even a little longer, yes, I want to try this real bad!” Finn grabs his phone and makes a call. “Hello! How are things? Yeah, we are in the castle square if you want to join us. OK, seeya soon!” Less than a minute later, Darkelon comes out of the castle. Shelby runs up and gives him a hug! Darkelon, the son of the vampire Nespheritos and Princess Bubblegum’s step great grandmother, towers over Shelby! He is 7’2”, very muscular and has an intimidating appearance. He smiles, showing his razor sharp teeth, and a candy citizen sees him and explodes from fear! “Make a note of that one for the Princess to fix.” Finn walks over and shakes his hand, and tells his close friend Dar what’s been happening the last few minutes.Up on the porch, Princess Bubblegum sits down at a table. Marceline continues to float, keeping herself shaded with her parasol. With tears forming in her eyes, Marceline says, “Princess, I want Finn to live forever, but I will settle for what I can get! After I was forced to draw the vampire elements out of him to beat the Baron Lich, I immediately started worrying about his mortality. Glob, I have seen so many wonderful, caring people disappear from the land…” Tears begin to stream down her face. “…and the most wonderful of all is Finn! I-I’m not sure I want to continue existing without him in my life…” Princess Bubblegum stands up and grabs her long time friend and hugs her with all she is! “I wish I knew what was going to happen with this idea of mine. But I don’t. I can’t guarantee anything, but I think that your love for him may be the difference!” She looks down from the balcony and sees Shelby hugging her dad. “Shelby’s love, and her immense power, should be the key to this working.” Marceline looks down at the scene and sees Darkelon standing with her family. The tears dry up and she gets a wry smile on her face. “I’ll do whatever is needed, if you go on a date with Darkelon, a real date! I pick the places!” PB looks at Marceline and gets an angry frown on her face! Then she relaxes, and says, “OK! You and Shelby seem determined for us to spend time together! ONE DATE!” Marceline smiles, and then she grabs the Princess and flies down to the group. Darkelon smiles and bows. “My greetings to my two favorite members of Ooo royalty!”
PB beckons for all of them to follow her into the castle. She leads everyone upstairs to an opening leading to a catwalk, and there they see Goliad and Stormo, staring at each other… an occasional crackle of energy flows between them. PB says, “They have been like that for eleven years. Goliad’s power is staggering, but so is Stormo’s. I have been afraid to try anything to break their focus, because I am just as likely to break Stormo’s focus as Goliad’s. And, if Stormo breaks first, it’s all over.” Finn looks at PB and says, “What’s your plan?” PB looks at everyone in the group and then focuses her gaze on Shelby. “As strong as Goliad is, Shelby, I think you are stronger. But just in case, it’s nice to know that we have the greatest group of heroes Ooo has ever seen for your backup!” Marceline gets a nervous look on her face. “You THINK she is stronger? Your theories are nice, Princess, but you are talking about risking the lives of my entire family!” Shelby grabs her mom’s arm and pulls her ear to Shelby’s mouth. She whispers, “I don’t want to see dad die and it just be you and me for 400 years, mom.” Marceline looks at her daughter, and kisses her forehead. She looks at the ground, and then looks at Princess Bubblegum. “So, what are we doing?” PB lays out her plan.Finn and Marceline go back to the tree house, and get their vampyri royal family armor. Finn gets his crystalline sword, the powerful two handed sword given to him by Simon the Ice King, which gives Finn a number of ice related abilities. Marceline gets Firebrand, her two handed axe that can cast flaming attacks. They both wish that Christy, their adopted daughter, was there so they could give her a hug, but she is off with Jake and Lady Rainicorn’s family at the southeast point of Ooo. Finn tried to call her, but there is no signal where they are… At this point night has fallen, and Marceline flies Finn back to the Castle square.
While they were gone, Darkelon put on his vampyri royal guardsman plate armor, and PB put on the vampyri royal princess chain armor that she got from the Hall of Vampires. She still feels fortunate that the armor chose her to be its owner! This armor is tougher than anything she has ever worn, but is as light and fluid as a set of pajamas! Finn and Marceline fly in, and they see that everyone is set.At this point everyone on the team has limited or better flying ability. The vampyri armor allows limited flight, and Marceline and Shelby are expert flyers! They float up to the level where Stormo and Goliad are, and Shelby casts a blood red cloud over Goliad’s head. Suddenly, Stormo turns and looks at Shelby! Then Goliad strikes! She hits Stormo with a powerful blast of energy, and everyone can hear him sizzling! He falls off of his perch and hits the ground below! Shelby begins calling the blood red lightning, but then she can’t move! Goliad has frozen her in time, and she just floats in the air! The blood red cloud dissipates, and Finn and Marceline are horrified! They leap into the air, and Marceline fires a blast of flame at Goliad, but Goliad raises an energy barrier, and the flame just goes around it! Finn causes a huge ice storm to form, and Goliad is pelted by hail and ice, but she is not affected by it! Princess Bubblegum flies up and tries to grab Shelby, but when she touches her PB is thrown back by the energy that is locking her down! Darkelon charges his legs with Dhampyr force, and leaps at Goliad! Then he charges his arms, and swings at her with his double headed spear… but the strike bounces off of her energy shield! Everyone is dumbfounded at the sheer power of this evil being! She may be stronger than the Rising Demon! Finn charges at her, and then uses the sword’s phasing ability to bypass her shield, and strikes her with all the power of cold! Goliad yells in pain, but then grabs Finn! She looks at him and says, “Aren’t you the one that wouldn’t tell me what I needed to know? Just to let you know, I don’t need you anymore!” She squeezes him and everyone there hears his bones crack! Finn screams in pain! Then Goliad tosses him on top of Stormo! Finn weakly reaches out his hand and draws his sword back to him, and then crumples on top of a dying Stormo…
Marceline is furious! This beast has nearly killed Finn, and has Shelby frozen in time! She starts firing flame at Goliad, and then starts raising the temperature! 3000 degrees, 4000 degrees, 6000 degrees! At that point Goliad takes notice, and causes a brick to dislodge from the castle and strike Marceline on the back of the head! She falls to the ground unconscious! Princess Bubblegum and Darkelon are unsure of a strategy, but they know if they do nothing, their friends are finished! Darkelon uses the telekinetic ability of his spear to toss carts, and wagons, trees, and statues at Goliad! They start weakening the shield, and PB is firing exploding arrows from her vampyri crossbow! They begin flooding Goliad with attacks, and it seems that they are winning! Darkelon picks up a large statue and throws it, and suddenly the statue turns around and strikes Darkelon knocking him out! Then Goliad walks over to Princess Bubblegum and corners her with her back against the wall! “Thank you very much for distracting Stormo! Once he stopped attacking me he had no chance, and as you can see my abilities have grown over the years!” PB is in utter disbelief! In less than 5 minutes, Goliad has defeated all of the heroes of Ooo, including the Bloodforged! Goliad grabs the Princess and brings her up to her face… Then energy begins crackling around Goliad’s third eye stalk, and PB knows she only has seconds left to live!A blast of pure white energy strikes Goliad in the face, and she drops Princess Bubblegum! Then a block of ice freezes her third eye and front paws! She looks up, and so does Princess Bubblegum, and they are both astounded! It’s Finn! But he is floating in the air, flapping a set of wings! He has stripped to the waist, and is not wearing his hat. His long golden hair is blown about by the wind of his wings! Finn raises his hand, and fires a white beam of energy from it that encases Goliad in a block of ice! Then a third eye forms on his forehead and fires a blast of psychokinetic energy at Goliad, and she is vaporized! Finn flies up to his daughter, and uses the third eye to free her from the time field! She looks at her dad, and cannot believe her eyes! She float over to her dad, and grabs him by the neck and draws the Bloodforged armor into her skin; Then she starts crying! “Dad, you… you look just like an angel!” Finn smiles, and then flies them over to Marceline. Shelby recalls her Bloodforged armor and heals her mom, and when she wakes up she can’t believe her eyes! “F-Finn, what happened to you?” He bends down to one knee, grabs Marcie’s hand and replies, “When I was dying, and lying on top of a dying Stormo, he shakily reached out his hand and grabbed me. While he couldn’t talk, I could hear his voice in my head telling me that the Princess’ plan was fundamentally correct, but with Goliad about to win the day, these heroes had no choice but to do it the hard way! Stormo grabbed onto the ice sword that Finn was still holding onto, and then used the energy of the sword to fuse the three of them together!” Finn stands up and helps Marceline get onto her feet, and then looks at the ground. “I hope I am half the hero Stormo was… He gave his life to me to ensure that the evil known as Goliad would not win.”
Finn looks at the group. Darkelon has gotten up, and looks none the worse for wear… His natural fast healing should have him good as new in a few hours. Marceline looks at Princess Bubblegum, grins evilly and says, “We kept our end of the bargain! Now it’s your turn!” PB frowns, and then grunts! She turns to Darkelon, and says, “So, big boy, wanna go out on a date?” Darkelon blushes very, very noticeably! He says, “Are you serious, Princess?” She replies, “Yep!” He accepts her invitation! Marceline floats over to PB and hands her a list. She looks at it and her eyes get really big! She walks over to Marceline and whispers, “These are all really romantic places! Isn’t this a bit much for a first date?” Marcie grins and says, “You two have been smitten with each other for years! I think a romantic getaway is just what the vampire ordered!”As Princess Bubblegum is organizing her schedule, Finn walks over to Marceline and says, “There are two people that really need to know what is going on.” Marcie doesn’t need to be reminded who they are! Finn continues, “You ready to go?” Marceline nods her head, and they fly straight up into the air! As they rise they pause for a moment to kiss, and they are silhouetted by the moon. Shelby looks at them, and tears form in her eyes! She thinks, “So this is what it looks like when an angel and a demon fall in love.” Tears of joy stream down her face as she sees that her parents are still very much in love, and knowing that now they have all of eternity to enjoy it…
Finn grabs Marceline by the waist and starts flapping furiously, flying faster than Marceline ever could! They fly to the southeast, and get to the shore, and Marceline sees Jake’s family, with Christy! The sun starts poking above the horizon, and Finn casts a pure white energy over Marceline, causing her to glow! When they land, Marceline feels no pain from the sun! In fact, it feels pretty good! For the third time in their relationship, Finn has found a way for her to enjoy the warmth of the sun, and does she ever like it!They land, and walk up to the family. Jake and Lady Rainicorn see them and are aghast! They cannot believe their eyes! Jake runs over and says, “Bro! What the plop happened to you?” Finn tells Jake and Lady what happened, and Jake falls on his keister! Lady says something in Korean, and Finn says, “Yes, it never fails to amaze me how things can change so fast in the land of Ooo.” Lady and Jake both gasp! “When did you learn Korean, Finn?” He replies, “One of my new abilities is that I can learn any language instantly when I hear it. I just learned it a few seconds ago!” Marceline smiles! “Now Finn and I get to enjoy all of eternity together! I am as happy as I have ever been!” Finn looks at his brother and best friend in the world. “Buddy, I have a present for you. I know that you are over 50 in magic dog years. I’m sure you and lady are concerned, since she is going to outlive you by a long shot! I can’t make you live forever, but I can help this situation…” Finn’s third eye opens up, and a blue energy shoots at Jake! It surrounds him, and then he is blotted out by the glow! After a few seconds, the energy dissipates, and Jake looks like he did years ago! He looks at himself, and has a big smile on his face! “You are once again 28 in magic dog years, and you are going to age like a human. You should have another 60-70 years on this land of Ooo!” Lady gets a big smile on her face, and hugs her companion for life, the father of her children! Then she goes over to Finn and kisses him with tears in her eyes! She was very overwrought that Jake was going to become an old dog and be gone from her life in a just a few more years! Now she has him in her life for decades longer!
About this time, Christy makes it from the shore to where her adoptive parents are, and she is stunned! Finn has wings, and Marceline is in the sun without any covering except a white glow! “Wha-what happened to you dad?” Marceline puts her arm around Christy and leads her off, telling her what happened. Finn turns to Jake and says, “You remember when you, Lady and I were dealing with that translator, and I said ‘let’s be stupid forever?’” Jake smiles and nods, as does Lady Rainicorn! “I guess what we did yesterday at the Candy Kingdom was pretty stupid when I think back on it, but it sure seems to have paid off!” Jake smiles and gives his brother a hug, wagging his tail! Finn says, “When you get back into town, you and lady stop by and we can talk about things.” Marceline and Christy walk back to the group, and she walks up to Finn and gives him a big hug! “I don’t think I am ever traveling away from you guys again, even for a short vacation! It always seems like I miss out on the fun!” Finn grins, and hugs her back! “Your mom and I are going to go away for a few days. You and Shelby be good while we are gone, OK?” She smiles and agrees, and Finn and Marceline wave goodbye to the gang. Finn grabs her by the waist, and flies north! “So how do you like the feel of the sun?” She replies, “Oh, its OK I guess…” then she cracks up laughing! “Finn, you know how much I love being in the sunshine! This is awesome! How often can you do this?” Finn says, “As often as you want as long as you stay close to me!” Marceline puts her head against his shoulder, and says, “You are going to have trouble keeping me away from you, then!” She looks at him and says, “OK my angel, where are we going where this demon girl can show you a good time?” Finn smiles, and says, “There is a place called the Pillars of the Moon that I’ve heard of…” Marceline smiles, she knows exactly where the Pillars are! She says, “I can’t wait until we get there!” She snuggles close to her beloved, feels the warmth of the sun on her back, and settles down to enjoy the ride…END
